ABOUT THIS WEEK:
We only did school stuff two days this week, taking two days off to prepare for Jody's arrival. We cleaned out our guest room (quite a big project, as it had morphed into an "everything that has no clear place to go" depository). We had a friend fix the bed frame, the walls had to be painted, and we wanted to spruce it up and make it cozy and welcoming.
Even though that's not officially school work (hence the two days off), I think it's important for kids to learn how to be hosts, how to plan grocery lists tailored to the guest, how to plan meals that will be to your guest's liking, etc. It's good real-world stuff.
On our two days of school, we basically did our normal round of mythology, poetry, Shakespeare, and math. But everything was abridged to make time for our map (above). It was a really fun project, and we traced out the course of our vacation on it.
An easy week, lots of hustle and bustle. Our spirits were very high in anticipation of seeing aunt Jody and exploring Europe together!!!
