Week Fourteen: November 24-26, 2008

NOTES ABOUT THIS WEEK: This is a 3-day week on account of the Thanksgiving recess (Nov. 27th - begin Thanksgiving Break; resume Dec 1st)

This was such a short week, happily monopolized with Thanksgiving preparations. The kids helped me make a menu plan, go shopping for ingredients, and cook a fantastic meal. All of the preparations and cooking was very educational for them. I think they picked up a lot of insight about how a huge gala feast magically appears on the dinner table!

We listened to an audio CD in our car entitled "When Gods Walked the Earth," a course in mythology.  We did multiplication drills and quizzes, and Saxon 76 review test #11 (Akychame) and test #1 (Lvov). We studied our optical illusions book non-stop. We reviewed what we have learned about Lewis and Clark / Sacajawea / Thomas Jefferson / The Louisiana Purchase, etc. We listened to Pimsleur's German CD in our car, repeating the phrases in German. I tested the kids on SE European countries, as well as the surrounding seas. Akychame practiced piano and had a piano lesson. Akychame and I created our own skateboard design online, for her Christmas present. Lvov and I designed a T-shirt design online, too.

All in all, this was a fun, laid-back week of review and Thanksgiving prep.
